We’re pleased to announce that we have started the installation of solar power panels here at Biofortuna. With solar power we can reduce our reliance on the National Grid in favour of using renewable energy, reduce our carbon footprint significantly, and do our bit to tackle global warming.
Why have we chosen to install solar power?
- Clean and Renewable Energy: Solar power generates electricity without emitting greenhouse gases and allows us to use electricity without combustion or emissions. By utilising solar power, we can help lower our greenhouse gas emissions which helps to then improve air quality and public health.
- Electricity Generation: By substituting solar energy for fossil fuel-based electricity generation, we reduce the amount of CO2 emissions and other greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere.
- Improve our resilience against potential energy outages and other external factors: Solar power provides an opportunity to diversify our energy sources and reduce dependence on a single supply and therefore reduce our reliance on imported fossil fuels and contribute to energy independence and security.
- Cost Reduction and future proof against future energy pricing: It’s no secret that the cost of energy has risen massively, by utilising solar power we are able to manage our overheads.
We are aware that we have a responsibility to help global efforts in building a greener and more sustainable future for our planet and we are committed to doing so. Alongside installing solar power, we recycle our waste, deploy heat recovery systems on all our cooled plant & equipment and have started a program of planting native hedgerows and meadows on site.
