Rose joined us in May 2020 as Group Financial Controller.

Here she explains why she chose to pursue a career in Finance and what she enjoys most about working at Biofortuna.

Please describe your role as Financial controller?

I’m responsible for the day-to-day running of entire accounts function as well as payroll, monthly and year end accounts and audit.

 

Why did you decide to work in Finance?

I used to see my Mum doing the accounts for my Dad’s business as a teenager and decided that’s what I wanted to do. I have always naturally been good with numbers, and I think you are drawn to do what you are good at.

 

Why did you choose Biofortuna?

At my interview I saw what a great company they would be to work for and that they had a great future. I also like what we do, we provide services that result in earlier and more accurate diagnosis and I think that’s a good business to be in.

 

What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day involves raising sales invoices, processing purchases invoices, receipts  and payments.

What do you like most about your job?

I like that I am responsible for everything finance related, I feel it helps me do my job better as I really see the whole picture, which in turn allows me to better support the Company and my colleagues. It’s also a nice place to work, we help each other, it’s interesting and challenging but there’s a really good work/life balance.

I also think that what I do is really important. Even the healthiest business will struggle if the finance function is not run efficiently, for me it is the backbone of any business.

 

What do you like to do away from work?

I like walking my dog, going to the gym, going to concerts and travelling as much as possible.
