Hi James, Tell us a little bit about yourself

I’m Project Manager at Biofortuna and I joined the company in November 2021, shortly after the opening of the new site in Deeside.

 

Please describe your role

I am responsible for ensuring effective customer communication and project delivery. By working closely with the technical lead on each project, I endeavour to keep us on track with timelines and plan effectively to schedule multiple projects alongside each other.

As the customer’s main point of contact, I represent their interests on site so that they know we are successfully handling their project.

What skills do you need to be an effective Project Manager?

Organisation and time management are key, as well as communication. As you are interacting with people of varying disciplines and backgrounds it is important to find a way to engage with each person individually.

 

What influenced your choice of career?

I come from a scientific background but a few years ago I transitioned from a lab-based role into project management. I enjoy the balance of a strategic role and managing my own workload.

What do you like most about your job?

My role brings various challenges, but I enjoy the problem-solving aspect and that no two days are the same. I work with some great people who are invested in the continuous improvement of our services and that collaboration brings its own rewards.

 

Why did you choose to work at Biofortuna?

I was looking for a new challenge and I was excited to join a growing business with big ambition. Joining Biofortuna has taken me out of my comfort zone and forced me to learn new skills.

 

What do you like to do away from work?

I’m a multi-instrumentalist and very passionate about music so I currently play and sing in a few different bands. I also like bouldering and hiking when I have the time.
