Gabrielle is a Senior Scientist in our team and is responsible for the day to day organisation and smooth running of the manufacturing process here at Biofortuna.

Hi Gabrielle, Tell us a little bit about yourself

My name is Gabrielle, and I am a senior scientist at Biofortuna. I achieved a masters in Genetics with a side of Bioinformatics at the University of Liverpool nearly 9 years ago and have held a variety of manufacturing, development, validation and applications roles during my time in industry.

 

Please describe your role

I organise the manufacturing team, execute, track and trace, trouble-shoot and process-improve all manufacturing processes and I am accountable for the correct documentation of all workflows. I also get involved in the tech transfer of new products along with development work that is relevant to my area of expertise, for example PCR related assays.

What skills do you need to be an effective Senior Scientist?

Scientific knowledge and experience aside, to be a senior scientist in manufacturing at Biofortuna, coordination and organisation skills are paramount for the running of the various stages of a manufactured product. The ability to move from project to project whilst maintaining meticulous attention to detail and the ability to communicate across teams at different levels comes a close second.

 

What influenced your choice of career?

I had a natural aptitude toward Science and Maths throughout my childhood, which directed my interests to my strengths.

What do you like most about your job?

The variety of work we are exposed to, and the perpetual can-do attitude of the team I work with.

 

What do you like to do away from work?

I have two wonderful little boys who take up all my time! Plenty of time with them and family and having adventures is my everything.
