2025 has been an incredible for Biofortuna, marked by continued collaboration with some of the most innovative influential companies within diagnostics, food safety, DNA testing and healthcare. We’ve done this while maintaining our focus on quality, reliability and innovation, delivering solutions that help bring life changing innovations to market faster.

With that in mind, we’ve taken a moment to reflect on some of the year’s biggest highlights – and there have been plenty.
In 2025, we…
- Became ISO 14001 compliant: This achievement recognises our commitment to operating more sustainably. Through the introduction of targeted initiatives and measurable objectives, we are minimising our environmental impact while leading by example within our industry.
- Increased capacity: We can now manufacture up to 10 million lyo beads per month. Reaching this milestone allows us to offer true end-to-end capability – from development through to commercial manufacture.
- Built influence: We were delighted to host Welsh Government Ministers Ken Skates MS and Jack Sargeant MS at our Deeside facilities, showcasing our growing contribution to Wales’s life sciences industry and discussing how we can work together.
- Achieved more accreditations: Our trademark, NorthGene™, became the only the second laboratory in the UK to achieve the distinguished UKAS accreditation for non-invasive prenatal paternity testing. This allows us to provide reliable, trusted results to expectant parents across the UK from as early as week eight of pregnancy.
- Improved turnaround times for DNA testing: Our expert team significantly enhanced turnaround times for NorthGene™ DNA testing. Whether for peace of mind or legal purposes, families now receive reliable results within 1–2 working days.
- Attended events all over the world: From ADLM and ELRIG to MEDICA 2025, we were proud to attend leading international events, connecting with industry peers and customers from around the world. These events gave us the opportunity to showcase our expertise while gaining valuable insights.
- Team building: Throughout the year, we celebrated our dedicated team with a range of team-building activities – from Chester Races to a day of friendly competition and rocket-launching at Rowton Hall Hotel.
2026 promises to be every bit as exciting and we’re looking forward to another year of innovation!
