Mike is a transplant immunologist with nearly 21 years clinical experience at Oxford and 8 years of industrial experience at Dynal / Invitrogen UK . During this time Mike has consistently developed cutting-edge genotyping and phenotyping solutions for transplant health care scientists. Mike holds a PhD in immunology from Oxford Brookes University, three patents within transplantation science and over 100 publications in the field of immunology. Ben Passey, BSc

R&D Director

Prior to setting up Biofortuna Ltd, Ben worked for Dynal / Invitrogen Transplant Diagnostics division (previously Dynal Biotech UK) where he was instrumental in developing and maintaining HLA genotyping solutions such as sequence-specific amplification (SSP) and sequence-specific oligonucelotides (SSO) as well as developing novel microarray technology . Before co-founding Biofortuna Ltd, David had 7 years R&D experience in developing complex genotyping solutions within Dynal / Invitrogen Transplant Diagnostics division. David specialised in developing and project managing key projects in macro and microarray technologies . He has a BSc in Genetics from the University of Liverpool, and in 2009 will complete his MSc in Biotechnology from Liverpool John Moores University. Mark is a serial entrepreneur with a wealth of experience of start-up and early stage businesses and is a director of a number of health and life-science companies, whose technologies range from drug development (anti-cancer) through to medical device development (implantable insulin delivery device).

David Whitcombe is an experienced biotech director who brings a wealth of experience in successfully developing quality diagnostics and in growing biotechnology companies. David was previously part of the successful founding team of DXS, a North West UK based Molecular Diagnostics company which sold to Qiagen in 2009 in a deal worth £80M.

Harry Singh

Prior to joining Biofortuna Harry was a Consultant offering business analysis services to the Pharmaceutical and Life Science sectors. Before this he was Director of Operations at London Genetics, a company providing pharmacogenomic research projects to the pharma and biotech industry. At DxS, a personalized medicine company, he was a Genotyping Project Manager and was responsible for all the genotyping projects within the company. As a Sales Manager at Whatman Bioscience Harry promoted the range of nucleic acid purification services and products. Harry graduated in Manchester where he obtained a BSc in Biological Sciences and an MSc in Biomedical Sciences. He then went on to work as a Clinical Genetic Scientist, initially for Northwick Park Hospital, before moving onto a senior role at Manchester Royal Infirmary. Software Development manager

Mark Reardon is Biofortuna’s Software Development Manager. Mark is an experienced software developer who previously worked for fifteen years as an independent software consultant in a wide range of public and private sector businesses and services including a large international biotechnology company. Mark brings to Biofortuna a broad hardware, technical and scientific background and has specialist knowledge of Delphi, C# and SQL Server applications which are being applied in our novel software solutions for in-vitro diagnostic products. Operations manager

Andy Bonner was previously Facilities Manager for a major international biotechnology company and comes with a wealth of practical experience in biotechnology operations management and quality systems management. Andy has ten years of direct experience in the production, development and maintenance of in vitro diagnostic biotechnology kits and platforms applied to genotyping and phenotyping. With qualifications in Chemistry, Engineering and Health & Safety Andy has the knowledge to set up, run, maintain and improve specialist production facilities to ISO9001 quality standards.
